We all go into farming to provide food that’s full of nutrition and health. What should also be on our minds, especially now, is that it can also spread disease and illness. While the big risks come from big companies within the far-flung food supply chain rather than smaller farms, bacteria don’t know the difference.
No one is exempt from food safety, and compliance with the law is the easiest way to ensure it. Find out what the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires and how to comply, with Lee McBride. He’s been a SPIN farmer and has taught it, and he is also well-schooled in the FSMA. He understands all the advantages SPIN farmers have when it comes to managing food safety, and he cuts the FSMA down to size for you in a session that’s an important reminder that when it comes to food safety ignorance is not bliss, and that we should be as proud of our food safety achievements as we are of our organic practices.
Watch this 6/6/19 session under Professional Development, featured all through April. Lee’s handouts which include 4 FSMA checklists and recordkeeping forms, are in the Resources area. Log in 24/7 here.
