Talkin’ Startup

MEMBER MEETUP:  Feb. 20, 2pm ET

Businesses are started by idealists and run by realists. Making the transition always raises questions, uncertainty and doubt. Let’s help 3 members at various stages of startup get past them at our next member meetup. They are far flung geographically, from an isolated island in British Columbia, to a small city in the US heartland, to a town not counted by the last US census. But they are a lot like you – excited, uncertain, thinking it through, planning it out, digging in.

Danyell Durstling is discovering carpentry skills she didn’t know she had, building raised beds and covered A-frames to compensate for her heavy rainy seasons. Kyle Mecham is a first generation multi-locational urban farmer who will be pedaling his wares all over town. Cherie Jzar started farmsteading in her small backyard 8 years, and is now going pro on a quarter acre.

What are they doing right? Where are they headed for trouble? What’s the best trade-off? Do their numbers add up? Let’s review their plans, answer their questions and offer advice on not only how to farm, but on how to make money farming. Because what every startup farmer needs most of all is confidence, and there is no better confidence booster than going to the bank Monday morning with a deposit.

Wherever you are starting from – square one, square foot gardening, home gardening, farmsteading – this session will help you see how you become a moneymaking SPIN farmer. With special guest: Frank Frazier, who’s been SPIN-Farming for 15 years at Mooseview Farm, Brookline NH.
